How to Choose a Badminton Racket

Two badminton rackets and a shuttlecock on a concrete surface

Compare the weight class, grip and shaft flex of an exact racket version, then choose a stringing setup within its range.

Choose a complete version

A model name can cover several weights and grips. Astrox 99 Pro 3AX99-P is offered in 3U and 4U; this catalog uses the Black/Green 4U G5 version. Keep the model code, weight and grip together when comparing offers.

Compare weight and flex separately

Nanoflare 001 Clear 5U lists a 78 g average; Astrox 77 Play 4U lists 83 g. Both are Hi-Flex. Astrox 99 Game is Medium, while Astrox 99 Pro is Stiff.

Include stringing in the budget

Some offers are for a frame without strings. Compare the price of the same variant and include the string, labor and any replacement grip. The catalog keeps each retailer price in its original currency.

Try your usual shots

Use the same shuttle and a familiar stringing setup when trying two rackets. Include serves, clears, drops and net shots. Notice whether the grip fits and whether you prepare the racket on time throughout the session.
